The story here
Colombia's coffee tradition dates to the early 1800s, spread in part — as the story goes — by priests who assigned coffee planting as penance. By the 20th century, smallholder farms across the Andes had made Colombia synonymous with balanced, approachable coffee, organized around one of the most recognized cooperative systems on earth.
