The story here
Coffee reached Peru's remote Andean valleys in the early 1800s but stayed a minor crop for over a century, grown by smallholders far from any port or export hub. That same remoteness became an advantage — Peru's farms, largely untouched by industrial-scale agriculture, now make it one of the world's largest producers of certified organic coffee, grown across cooperatives in valleys like Chanchamayo, one of the country's oldest growing regions.
