The story here
German missionaries and colonial administrators planted the first coffee near Kilimanjaro in the 1890s, and the mountain's volcanic slopes remain the country's most celebrated growing ground. Tanzania is also where "peaberry" earned its reputation as a distinct, sought-after grade — a natural mutation where each cherry produces one round bean instead of two, hand-sorted out and sold separately for its concentrated sweetness.
